12 Days of Trekking for the Memory of a Lifetime!
Everest Base Camp
Mount Everest, commonly known as "Sagarmatha," stands majestically at an elevation of 8,848.86 meters, making it the highest mountain in the world. Nestled in Nepal's Solukhumbu district, the Everest region is a magnet for trekkers and mountaineers from around the globe. Since Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa first scaled it on May 29, 1953, the allure of Everest has only grown. Annually, over 400 climbers attempt to summit Everest, while more than 50,000 trekkers journey through the region, hoping to reach Everest Base Camp and gaze upon the mountain up close. With additional attractions like the Three Passes, Kala Patthar, Gokyo Ri, and Gokyo Lake, the Everest region continually draws adventurers year after year.
Trekking Through the Everest Region: A Journey Like No Other
Embarking on a trek through the Everest region offers breathtaking mountain views and a unique glimpse into the lives of the world-famous Sherpa climbers. The trek provides opportunities for sightseeing around Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site rich in Himalayan flora and fauna. Along the way, trekkers can visit some of the world's highest Buddhist monasteries and, most significantly, reach Everest Base Camp itself. The experience of following in the footsteps of Hillary and Norgay and seeing Everest up close is unparalleled.

Your Journey Begins in Kathmandu
The Everest Base Camp trek begins in Kathmandu with a trip briefing, where you'll meet your group, all sharing the same goal of reaching the base camp of the world's highest mountain. A welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepali cuisine kicks off your adventure. Spend the evening exploring the Thamel area, purchasing or renting any missing gear and equipment, and exchanging money into Nepalese currency. On the second day, you'll transfer to Ramechhap, Manthali (during peak season, flights to Lukla operate from here). From there, you'll catch a flight to Lukla the following day, meeting other crew members and starting your trek.
Trekking Itineraries and Customization
Trekking itineraries vary among companies. Some opt for a quick ascent, while others ascend more slowly, customizing the journey to fit the needs and desires of their clients. The trek can be completed in as few as 10 days or as many as 15 days, with some trekkers unable to finish and a few requiring helicopter evacuation due to altitude sickness. Trekking at high altitudes (above 3,000 meters) can be dangerous, but risks can be minimized with proper gear, slow ascents, adequate acclimatization, and good food and sleep.
Why Choose Freedom Adventures?
Freedom Adventures offers an exemplary trekking experience, starting from Lukla and reaching Everest Base Camp on the ninth day, with overnight stays at Phakding, Namche, Tashinga, Pangboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep. The itinerary includes two acclimatization days at Namche and Dingboche, ensuring proper acclimatization by avoiding consecutive gains of over 1,000 meters. Early morning on the tenth day, trekkers head to Kala Patthar for a stunning sunrise and a 360-degree view of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. After capturing the views and celebrating your achievement, you'll return to Gorak Shep and begin your journey home after breakfast.
