Gokyo trek to Everest.

I trekked the Gokyo Lakes route to Everest base camp with Freedom Adventures (booked via MBA in the UK). The trip was beyond any expectations. The guides (Kush, lead and Pemba) were so lovely and kept us safe (group of six solo travellers). Going above and beyond throughout. The support staff were also joyful and so strong! The scenery was spectacular and I would recommend the trip to anyone wanting to do something which is a good challenge. Thank you Freedom and especially Kush!

Wow, amazing!!!!

I really can’t sing the praises of freedom adventures loud enough. Our guide Kush and our assistant guide Pemba looked after us physically and mentally and without them and the support staff, I would not have a managed the Everest base camp via the Gokyo lakes trek. What an amazing trip!!!

An unforgettable experience with the best Team Nepal has to offer

Where do I start… I can honestly say that if you’re looking to do a trek in Nepal, you won’t be able to find a better trekking company than Freedom Adventures… and if you’re lucky enough to have Kanchan as your guide, then you’ve hit the jackpot. Despite unprecedented conditions and a whole host of obstacles - Kanchan, Nabeen, Khagendra and the incredible team behind Freedom Adventures managed to deliver a life changing experience packed with adventure, fun and trust… they made it seem effortless, which I’m sure wouldn’t have been the case for many other companies. I knew the trek itself would be life changing but I also feel like I’ve come away with a new family. This is a testament to the hard work Kanchan put into nurturing such an incredible group dynamic. Every aspect of this trek was executed faultlessly - from the preparation, all the way through to the daily planning, briefings & insights shared as we made our way through the Kathmandu Valley. Building a strong level of trust in such a short amount of time is no mean feat. It was something I certainly valued as a solo traveller. This really is a special team and Kanchan is a natural leader, with an exceptional level of wit, charisma (and of course dance moves). Before booking, I took a long time trying to find the ‘right’ tour company to suit my needs, and I’m so glad I made the decision to go with Freedom Adventures m. Kanchan’s expertise, kindness and unwavering ability to keep spirits high during the toughest times is something you have to see to believe. Although we made it to Gokyo against all the odds (the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen, if you have the time, it’s so worth it), the original itinerary had to flex when an unprescdented storm hit - which sadly (but wisely) meant that we couldn’t continue onwards to Cho La Pass and EBC. However I somehow don’t feel like I’ve missed out at all. Getting to explore beautiful Nepal with this team felt like a privilege, and the laughs and comradely thrown in along the way really put the cherry on top. The next time I visit Nepal (and there WILL be a next time) I’ll definitely be booking with Freedom Adventures again. And I’ll keep everything crossed that I have Kanchan as my guide, Nabeen as the trusty support (always with a smile) and Khagendra as our porter. Special shout out to Khagendra - that man was a force of nature with superhuman strength and a superhuman ability to keep his white trainers looking box fresh every day (something I still can’t get my head around). Thank you Kanchan, Nabeen and Khagendra for a ‘gawjus’ adventure & for the friendship you helped us build along the way.

Great views, vibes and guide

This was truly the most insane, transcendent, once in several lifetimes experience. While the mountains were stunning in themselves, what really made this trip stand out was the company. Our group of three had the best time on our trip. The accommodations we had were fantastic considering the region, food was wonderful, and we felt comfortable and safe for the duration of the trip. The trek itself was moderate and very manageable, with a comfortable pace and plenty of flexibility for rest and breaks. Kanchan in particular made this trip incredibly special. He did a wonderful job curating a fun group dynamic and ensuring we were all eager and excited each day (and we were)! Most importantly, he made us feel safe. Each night we had a briefing for the next day and a recap of the current day, which included our trekking plans, how we were feeling emotionally, and measuring our oxygen. Kanchan made it easy to trust him completely after day one- it wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable of a trip without him. I’d absolutely travel with Freedom Adventures again, and look forward to the day that I can come back to Nepal!

Everest and Gokyo Lakes Circuit

Fantastic trip. The guide (Kanchan) and his 2 assistants (Phurba and Anil) were super attentive to the needs of the group and were always availabe to answer questions and address any concerns. They set a pace that was appropriate to the group and ensured that the party aclimatised at a sensible rate on our way to the high points of our trek. As a result all members of the party were able to fully complete the trek. As the trek progressed the relationship between the group and the guides developed into genuine freindship and trust, with the guides imparting not just their knowledge of the mountains, but also Nepalese culture and willdlife along the way. Although the porters were less able to speak english than the guides they were ever cheerful and towards the latter part of the trip would come in to the tea room in the evening to play chess and cards with the whole party. It was a fantastic trip and an absolute pleasure to be guided by three such lovely young men. Well done Freedom Adventures!

Flight to Lukla then a 15 day trek to Everest Base camp via Gokyo and the Cho La pass.

We had a fantastic time. The guides, Kanchan, Anil and Phurba were the best. They were kind, supportive always, fun, knowledgeable and made the trip run incredibly smoothly. The route was very well planned, giving us time to acclimatise and they set a pace right for the group. I can not praise them enough. The four porters were also excellent. They were friendly and efficient and we're happy to be involved with the group. What a job they do! If we were to return to Nepal for another trip we would certainly be in touch with Freedom Adventures and will highly recommend them.

Awesome trekking experience in Everest region and Gokyo lakes

What an amazing experience, trekking through the Everest region via the Gokyo lakes. Stunning scenery and just awesome views of the Himalayas! We had an amazing team of professional guides, lead by Kanchan and assistants Anil and Fhurpa, who were very accommodating and gelled really well with our group. Same goes for the porters who made sure we always had access to our luggage when we arrived in the tea houses after a long day of trekking. Accommodation and food varied from good to basic (in more remote areas) but perfectly suited for the trek. It's been an experience of a lifetime for me I can only recommend Freedom Adventures very highly!

Trip of a lifetime

My time with Freedom Adventures was absolutely incredible and faultless from start to finish. The guides were very knowledgeable and so kind - Kanchan (lead), Phurba (assistant) and Anil (assistant). Their attention to detail was impeccable, always ensuring everyone in the group was happy, safe and staying as healthy as possible. We had the most memorable, breathtaking time - walking through the beautiful Himalayas to Gokyo Lakes - hiking up Gokyo Ri (5357m), onto the mighty Cho La Pass (5420m) where dramatic shards of ice awaited us and we used spikes to walk down the glacier. We then finally arrived at Everest Base Camp (5364m) and hiked up Kala Patthar (5550m) into the clouds. Despite all of the jaw dropping sights, the most memorable and wonderful thing of all was the people. Our guides made the trip. They injected fun and incredible knowledge of the mountains throughout, be it through playing cards or games in the evening around the yak dung fires in the tea houses, singing with us on the treks to keep everyone going or detailed planning and talks in the evenings to inform everyone of the plan the next day. Even in hard times - when morale was low, some group members had a fall or low oxygen stats, we always felt in completely safe hands and never doubted their expertise. They made the trip for me and it’s their kindness and hospitality that has made me sure that I will be back in Nepal one day - hopefully soon!

Trip of a lifetime

An amazing big mountain adventure shared with a great group of trekkers, porters & guides. Freedom adventures were a great company to deal with. They ensure you have a great trip by providing local guides who are professional, passionate, experienced, knowledgeable and good fun. All of the accommodation en route was comfortable and the range of food in the tea houses was to a good standard for high altitude trekking. This was an epic bucket list adventure that ticked all the boxes. It was my first time to visit Nepal but won’t be my last. I’d happily recommend Freedom adventures if you’re considering an adventure holiday to Nepal. Alan
