Born and brought up in the picturesque village of Sarangkot, near Pokhara, one of the most popular tourist destination of Nepal, Jagan was introduced to the trekking culture from a young age. He forayed into the trekking world in 1998, the year which the Government of Nepal had declared to be ‘Visit Nepal Year.’ He started out as a porter and later joined Himalayan Encounters, a world renowned trekking company as a guide-cum-porter. With every trek, Jagan’s passion for mountains grew and eventually saw him focus on a career as a mountaineer. Since 2009, Jagan has climbed 14 snow peaks, including Mount Everest. If he is not busy climbing mountains, Jagan can be found working as an instructor for outdoor activities.

Mr. Pandit has been active in the tourism industry since 2017. From 2018 to 2024, he worked at the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Mountain Academy as a Training Coordinator and Administrative Officer (Head of the Planning and Admin Department). He has managed numerous mountaineering expeditions and has deep professional insights into Himalayan adventures from his working experience at the government of Nepal. He has trained over 2,000 licensed trekking guides in Nepal. He has conducted many programs in collaboration with STLRP, a joint initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board and UNWTO. He has contributed to the publication of the first resource book for trekking guides in Nepal and has published research articles in international peer- reviewed journals. Mr. Pandit, a certified trek leader himself, has the experience of trekking across all major regions of Nepal, including Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Mustang.
