Travel Advisory: Nepal
A Return to Stability and Serenity

Freedom Adventures Update
As of September 13, 2025, Nepal has emerged from a brief period of unrest with renewed calm. Nepal has successfully appointed its first female Prime Minister, former Supreme Court Chief Justice Sushila Karki, and all recent protests have concluded. This historic appointment decisively addresses any prior uncertainties regarding travel to Nepal and unequivocally allays all security concerns. Freedom Adventures has already welcomed its first batch of groups for the season, who are currently on the trail, and we are now eagerly welcoming our other guests.
Our founder, Jagan Timilsina states,
'' We have closely monitored Nepal's recent developments, and I can assure all prospective visitors that the nation has moved swiftly and decisively to restore full stability. The appointment of the interim Prime Minister and the complete cessation of protests mean that Nepal is absolutely safe and ready for tourism. We are fully confident in welcoming all our guests to Nepal.''
Recent Context
Nepal experienced youth-led demonstrations, referred to as the "Gen Z protests," focused on addressing government corruption and governance concerns. This period also saw brief restrictions on social media access to manage public discourse. The situation saw a pivotal shift with the government's engagement and subsequent political developments. The resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on September 9, 2025, marked a turning point. This was followed by the swift appointment of The Right Honourable Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the interim Prime Minister on September 12, 2025, a move that signaled a commitment to stability and transition. The Nepali Army maintained a supportive and non-interventional role, primarily ensuring public order without direct engagement with the protestors, underscoring the nation's commitment to democratic processes. With these political changes, the protest movements have largely subsided, and all temporary restrictions have been lifted.
Adding to this assurance, both the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) have released official statements confirming that the situation is normalized and encouraging visitors to travel to Nepal without hesitation.
Government Stability
The transition has been marked by a positive step forward: on September 12, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was sworn in as Nepal's first female Prime Minister, heading the interim government. This appointment, endorsed by President Ram Chandra Poudel, signals a commitment to inclusive governance and accountability. This development has stabilized the political landscape, alleviated prior uncertainties and built trust both domestically and internationally.
Safety for Travelers
Nepal continues to be a secure destination for visitors, with the recent events having no lasting impact on tourism. All trekking routes, including popular paths in the Himalayas, remain fully accessible and operational. Airports, such as Tribhuvan International in Kathmandu, are functioning well, and accommodations across the country from urban hotels to remote lodges provide safe and reliable stays. There have been no disruptions to guided tours, adventure activities, or transportation networks. As confirmation of this normalcy, Freedom Adventures' first group of the season is already actively trekking the trails, and we are welcoming our next group today, September 13, with uninterrupted logistics and positive experiences.

We understand that news about recent events in Nepal may be trending in your home country, and some national embassies (USA, Canada) may have issued travel advisories requesting reconsideration of visits. We kindly request that you reconsider the dates and context of those articles and advisories. These statements often reflect initial concerns during periods of transition. However, as of September 13, 2025, the situation has definitively stabilized. The protests have ended, there is no curfew, a new interim government is in place, and daily life has returned to normal. We urge you to rely on the most current on-the-ground assessments.
