Pre-Season Health Screening Program

On January 24, 2026, the Freedom Social Foundation successfully conducted a Pre-Season Medical Health Screening Camp at the Janapriya Multiple Campus. This initiative was organized to evaluate the physical health and seasonal readiness of more than 100 field staff members, including trekking guides, assistant guides, and porters. Given the demanding nature of high-altitude work, the foundation prioritizes these medical assessments to ensure that every team member is fit for the rigors of the upcoming season.

The medical camp was led by Dr. Binay Raunikar from the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre. Under his supervision, a team consisting of four doctors and five medical interns provided specialized screenings. The medical protocol included critical assessments such as blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, oxygen level measurements, and echocardiograms (Echo). These specific tests were selected to identify any underlying cardiovascular issues or physiological concerns that could be exacerbated by the extreme conditions of mountain expeditions.

The operation was supported by a dedicated group of 19 volunteers who managed the logistics and flow of the event. Furthermore, the GTA team played a significant role by assisting in research-purpose data collection. This data is vital for understanding the long-term health trends of those working in the high-altitude tourism sector and helps in refining future welfare programs.

This mission was made possible through the collaboration of several key institutions. The Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre provided the necessary clinical expertise and coordination. Quest Pharmaceuticals facilitated the supply of essential medicines, while Janapriya Multiple Campus provided the venue required to host the large group of participants and medical professionals. The continued partnership with Freedom Adventures and the GTA Foundation remains a cornerstone of these social welfare efforts.

The successful completion of this camp reinforces the Freedom Social Foundation’s commitment to the safety and health of the mountain community. By conducting these thorough examinations, the foundation ensures that its staff can perform their duties with confidence and optimal health. We express our professional gratitude to the medical team, the volunteers, and our institutional partners for their disciplined execution of this essential program.
