Dear Valued Freedom Adventure Community, Travelers, and Partners,

October 9 Update: All Clear!

We're thrilled to confirm that all Freedom Adventures trips are now running smoothly and without any disturbances whatsoever. With everything back to normal, we won't be posting further routine updates here unless significant new information arises.

Nepal's breathtaking trails are calling, and our teams are answering the call!

Update as of October 06, 2025

As of October 06, 2025, we confirm that all Freedom Adventures teams are currently safe, well, and diligently operating according to their planned itineraries, with strategic adjustments made to accommodate recent environmental conditions.

We are delighted to report that as of today, no trekking routes are impacted. All routes are open and our treks are proceeding as per plan, with only minor adjustments implemented where necessary to ensure optimal safety and experience.

  • Everest Base Camp (EBC) Team: The flight was right on schedule, they successfully boarded their scheduled flights from Kathmandu to Lukla. All EBC teams are now back on their respective trekking paths, and are making excellent progress.
  • Everest and Gokyo Lake Circuit (ECT) Team: A few of our teams encountered initial delays in Ramechhap. While sections of the Manthali road were temporarily halted, our teams expertly navigated an alternative route, which involved a journey of approximately 9.5 to 10 hours to Ramechhap. From there, they flew out to Lukla. Due to significant recent snowfall, our Everest and Gokyo Lake Circuit team initially rerouted, bypassing Chola Pass and utilizing an alternative path through Machhermo to Phortse Thanga to reach EBC (Plan B). We are pleased to report that as of the evening of October 07, Chola Pass has been officially reopened, and our new team is heading towards it.
  • Annapurna Circuit Trek (ACT) Team: Our Annapurna Circuit trekkers, who were briefly held up in Kathmandu due to weather and highway issues, hit the trail on October 6th! They're now fully immersed in their adventure. All our other ACT groups are also having an absolutely fantastic time.
  • Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Team: Our Annapurna Base Camp treks are proceeding with remarkable normalcy and strictly adhering to their predetermined schedules. Although the highway to the region experienced minor congestion and brief obstructions, the trekking component itself remains entirely on plan, with teams enjoying their journey.
  • Yala Peak Team: The Yala Peak team encountered a few localized landslides. However, the primary impacts have since been cleared. Demonstrating adaptability, our team utilized an alternative route yesterday, moving efficiently to Syabrubesi, and are now proceeding precisely as per their regular itinerary with no ongoing issues.
  • Lobuche Expedition Team: This expedition is progressing without a hitch and precisely as scheduled. A significant advantage for this team was their ability to fly directly from Kathmandu, bypassing any potential ground disturbances and ensuring a smooth start to their high-altitude ascent.
  • Mera Peak Expedition: Our Mera Peak team is following their robust regular schedule. For the driving segments of their journey, they are effectively utilizing alternative routes, ensuring continuous progress and minimizing any potential delays from standard road conditions.
  • Mardi Himal Trek: The Mardi Himal trek is reported to be proceeding exceptionally well, strictly adhering to its schedule, and experiencing no disturbances whatsoever, ensuring a delightful experience for all participants.
  • Manaslu Circuit Trek: This challenging Manaslu Circuit trek has remained entirely unaffected by recent events. The team is progressing precisely as planned, enjoying stable conditions and a smooth journey through the Himlayan landscapes.

All guests who were in Kathmandu are now safely and soundly on their respective trekking trails. The prevailing weather conditions are excellent, characterized by clear skies, which are contributing to an amazing and memorable trekking experience for everyone.

As of October 05, 2025, we confirm that all Freedom Adventures teams are currently safe, well, and operating according to their planned itineraries.

  • Everest Base Camp (EBC) Team: Our Everest Base Camp trekking team is presently situated at Lobuche. They are progressing on schedule through their itinerary. The team reported experiencing a small, localized snowfall, which is a common occurrence at these high elevations.
  • Everest and Gokyo Lake Circuit (ECT) Team: Our Everest and Gokyo Lake Circuit team is currently at Gokyo today, proceeding right on schedule with all participants safe and well.
  • Annapurna Circuit Trek (ACT) Team: The Annapurna Circuit trekking team is safely located at Tilicho Basecamp. Conditions at their current location are reported as clear and good, allowing for smooth progression.

Furthermore, clients who recently arrived in Kathmandu are all confirmed to be safe and have been securely allocated to their respective hotels following their arrival.

Highway Status:

Major highway blockages across various regions of Nepal remain persistent throughout today. These disruptions are significantly affecting ground travel and logistical movements. Based on current assessments, we anticipate that these critical transportation routes will most likely begin to reopen tomorrow.

Evolving Weather Conditions:

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), weather conditions were challenging until approximately 8 AM this morning. However, as the day has progressed, we are observing a significant improvement: the sky is visibly clearing in various areas, signaling a positive shift in the weather pattern across the region.

We are actively managing the current situation on the ground and will continue to provide timely updates as conditions evolve.

Update as of October 04, 2025

As of October 4, 2025, several regions are experiencing significant and persistent heavy rainfall, leading to dynamic weather patterns. This includes potential risks such as localized landslides, flash floods, sudden snowfall in higher elevations, and temporary disruptions to road access and trekking routes. Furthermore, we note the possibility of temporary restrictions on vehicle movement (to/from Kathmandu until Oct 6) and potential impacts on domestic flight schedules (3-hour restrictions on domestic flights), as advised by authorities. Our dedicated team is rigorously monitoring these conditions and meteorological forecasts to ensure the utmost safety and successful execution of all planned tours and treks.

We are pleased to confirm that all our departed teams currently in the Himalayas, as well as those who have recently arrived in Kathmandu, are safe and sound. We wish to assure all families that their members trekking with Freedom Adventure are safe and accounted for.

In light of these developments, Freedom Adventure strongly advises all our clients to prioritize safety and preparedness.
