Upon your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, Freedom Adventures’ representative will greet you. You will be dropped off at the hotel, and after checking in, you could walk around Thamel, a popular tourist hub in Kathmandu. Observing the market and some souvenir shopping will freshen your mind. Dinner at an excellent restaurant will give you a taste of Nepali cuisine. Your trek guide will brief you about the trip and the next day’s sightseeing trip. Overnight at Kathmandu.
After a lovely breakfast in the morning, we start guided sightseeing tour to some most historical and spiritual attraction in Kathmandu. We will be visiting some landmarks which are considered as World Heritage Sites. This Sightseeing will be fully informative and historical. We start our day from Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples, followed by Bouddanath, the ancient Buddhist Stupa is one of the largest in the world. Following our day to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, is the plaza in front of the royal place of old Bhaktapur. In the afternoon we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the old royal place complex which was built on the 14th century. After we finish sightseeing we follow the local market called Ason, crossing the busy local area we reach our hotel at Thamel. Overnight at Kathmandu.
On a 7-hour scenic drive early in the morning to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. You can see amazing Himalayan ranges on the right side from the plane. With many other amazing places to visit, Pokhara is a peaceful as well as a thrilling place to be. We will have enough time to soak in the amazing ambiance and spend a lovely evening by the lake while making final preparations for the trek tomorrow. Overnight at Pokhara.
We board our transportation for 4-5hrs journey through a lush landscape of rice paddies and travelling deeper into the Annapurna Himal to the rural town of Darbang. There are good views of Dhaulagiri from the section of the trail and from the top we can see Gurja himal and Putha Hiunculi. Overnight at Darbang.
We continue our trek along the ridge on paths and jeep trail above the river and good view of Dhaulagiri to the north from the settlement of Takam, the trail than descend to Gatti Khola than we climb for the large village of Mudi. Overnight in Mudi.
The route will be following Myagdi river which flows down from north than the trail pass through the farmland, rice fields and isolated houses, climbing around a ridge on the east side of Dhola Valley to the village of Naura. We continue on towards Myagdi Khola to the larger settlement of Bagar (2080m). Overnight at Bagar.
From Bagar the path descends for half an hour to Jyardan which is the last village we will encounter until we arrive at Marpha in the Kali Gandaki valley. Continuing our gradual ascend on a spectacular alpine style path we encounter more grassy clearing and arrive in Dobhan Kharka. Overnight at Dobhan Kharka.
After the view of peaks of the Dhaulagiri ,we enter a forested area and climb to a place from where we can see the Dhaulagiri I between the trees than our trail cross the summer grazing area of Sallaghari. We enter a forest area before reaching the Italian Base Camp which lies beneath the west face of Dhaulagiri I. Overnight at Italian Base Camp.
More than rest day it is acclimatization day so we hike towards the Dhaulagiri glacier and explore as much as we can.
A short day as we climb up above 4000m, the trail crosses a rocky area, a steep slope and climbing abruptly to cross the moraine of a glacier which flows down from Dhaulagiri below. The glacier is a wide area in a valley which is the campsite known as Japanese Base Camp. Overnight at Japanese Base Camp.
Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp is the long and tough day. The trek follows the north side of the glacier, on the undulating surface of the glacier itself. From Dhaulagiri Base Camp we can have glimpse of north face of Dhaulagiri I, to the west lie the awesome peaks of Dhaulagiri II (7751m), III (7715m) and VI (7618m) directly opposite our camp. Overnight at Dhaulagiri Base Camp.
Second day of rest and acclimatization before crossing the pass into the Hidden valley. We can walk above the camp for great views.
|Day 13||Trek from Dhaulagiri base camp to Hidden valley camp (5140m/16,864ft) via French Pass (5370m/17,618ft) - 8hrs|
Today is the big and challenging day as the trek follows the zigzag trails up to French pass. From the top we can see 360 degree panorama view of surrounding mountains which includes Tukuche peak, Tashikang, the peaks of Mukut Himal and Sita Chuchura. Then a gentle descend across easy snow slopes to a wide Hidden Valley which is behind the Dhaulagiri Massif. Overnight at Hidden Valley.
|Day 14||Trek from Hidden valley camp to Yak kharka (4800m/15,748ft) via Dhampus pass (5244m/17205ft) - 8hrs|
Another tough day as we cross Dhampus Pass (5244m) and decend into the eastern end of Hidden Valley and than make a cross to the slightly lower Dhampus pass which overlooks the deep cleft of the Kali Gandaki Valley with the peak of the Annapurna range, it’s a rocky decent for further couple of hours dropping in the grazing area of Yak Kharka (4800m) from where we can see the glimpse of Dhaulagiri I. Overnight at Yak Kharka.
After the descent to the Kali Gandaki valley we pass the seasonal settlement that we reach is the stone huts at Alubari (3400m). After the steeply zig sagging decend takes us to the village of Marpha with the white washed houses, Tibetan crafts shops, monasteries and tea houses. After the Tibetan refugee resettlement we hike north wards climbing once more gently to the airstrip town of Jomsom. Overnight at Jomsom.
We take an early morning flight from Jomsom. It will be short 30 minutes flight and yet our opportunity again to the giants once more from plane.rnrnWe land at Pokhara airport where our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us to or hotel. We will have the whole of day to rest and relax. Overnight at Pokhara.
This is rest day for us to wander by the lake to browse the bazaar or go for boating in Fewa lake.rnrnIf you wish there are plenty of activities like paragliding, ultralight flight, mountain biking or a short rafting down raging Upper Seti River.
