Upper Mustang (Last Kingdom Of Mustang)
Unlock the Mysteries of Mustang: Where Ancient Walls Whisper Tales of Culture, Adventure, and Himalayan Grandeur.
Overview
Many locations in Nepal are still off-limits to foreign hikers. Nonetheless, access to a few of these isolated regions, including Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, and Makalu, has been made possible in recent years. All of these locations are trekked by Freedom Adventure, but Mustang is our top pick based on personal experience. While there isn't five-star luxury in this area, there is a distinctive atmosphere, a vibrant culture, friendly locals, and the fascinating historic wall city of Lo-Manthang. The Tibetan High Plateau is a unique ecosystem since it is a high-altitude desert under the Himalayan rain shadow. The majority of people living there are Buddhists from Tibet. The city can only be entered once through a sizable wooden entrances, and the today king Jigme Palber Bista and his family still reside there.

Best Time to go
Spring, spanning from March to May, stands out as an excellent time for the Upper Mustang Trek, offering pleasant weather and a vibrant landscape adorned with colorful flowers. The daytime temperatures are mild, ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), providing a comfortable trekking environment. However, it's crucial to acknowledge potential challenges during this season. Lower elevations might experience dustiness, and higher regions could retain lingering snow. The transitional conditions necessitate trekkers to be prepared for varying terrains and potential flight disruptions. Despite these considerations, the cultural richness of the region remains accessible, providing a unique perspective on the landscapes. Thorough preparation, including suitable gear for diverse conditions, is recommended for a rewarding exploration of Mustang during this period.
