Excellent Family Trip
Dec 22, 2024We had an exceptional trip with the Freedom Adventures team-a big shoutout to Anil, Bikal, and Mohan as well as all of the other folks who helped us with logistics. Special thanks to Bishal for designing a wonderful 2-week itinerary for our family complete with a 7-day trek in the Annapurna Conservation area and plenty of bird watching opportunities in Chitwan and elsewhere. We weren't sure what to expect on our custom trek given the time of year, but every day was unique and offered incredible highlights. We started from Galeshwor (near Beni) and spent our nights at teahouses in: Bansharksa, Nagi, Mohare Dada, Tadapani, Ghandruk, Jhinu Danda. It was great to start on the quieter west side hiking through agricultural lands including orange groves in full fruit! Sunrise at Mohare Dada was spectacular and the hot springs as Jhinu a surprise treat. We did not see any other trekkers until our third night. The National Botanical Garden and Chitwan National Park were nice complements to the trek and we identified 50+ Nepali birds. As others have noted, the Freedom Adventures staff were superb. Not only were they focused on creating a memorable experience and flawless logistics, but they were great ambassadors for Nepal. The work they are doing through their social foundation is reflective of their commitment to increasing access to the outdoors for Nepalis and to combat the issues of climate change. If you are considering a trip to Nepal, we strongly recommend Freedom Adventures!

Amazing Chitwan
Dec 19, 2024An excellent experience. Accommodation was really good, in lodges with large beds, view of the river, porch, bottled water and red hot water. Food was really good with a buffet style breakfast and lunch/ dinners. The staff were exceptional. A walk around the village was very sobering and educational, two nights before a leopard had taken a dog and two goats! The wildlife is very real here! All the activities were well planned and organised. On the jeep safari we managed to see a few rhinos, crocodiles, countless exotic birds including a kingfisher and monkeys galore! Wish I could have stayed longer.

Unforgettable adventure
Dec 17, 2024We did ABC trek with 2 days in Chitwan. his was our first experience of multi-day trekking with a group, guides and support staff, and what an amazing way to begin. On a practical level, having our lead guide Kush, and assistant guides Mingma and Santosh, handle all of the logistics, navigating and decisions, really allowed us and our group to enjoy the trekking. However, good guides do a lot more than just this - Kush's energy, constant joking and encouragement kept our spirits up throughout, and made the trek so enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed the evening talks about Nepal, as well as seeing the next generation of guide leaders being given opportunities, including our female guide Mingma. Mingma and Santosh both showed great patience and capability with looking after all of us as a group of individuals through the mountains. The positive attitude wasn't just with our guides, the wonderful support staff (shout out to Khusiman, Suman, Jivan, Hari, Bical, Ashish) also shared laughs and games with us sometimes in the evenings. Our final dinner altogether really showed us who the best dancers were (not us!) We loved the sound of the itinerary when we booked. In our experience, the trek was paced really well, with shorter/longer days to allow rest and opportunities to see sunrise views, photo spots etc. It also gave a real sense of achievement reaching ABC after some challenging days. The two days at the end spent at Chitwan were a joy, and our stay, relaxing by the river and venturing into the national park to see rare animals, could easily have been extended by another day. It was the perfect end and change of pace. We felt really lucky to have had such a like-minded and fun group of individuals with us. We didn't expect this to be a big part of our experience, but the laughs, games and conversations shared were easily a top highlight. We saw larger groups and private solo/couple travellers, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend booking onto this trip as MBA attracts great people and runs good sized trips. We had a mix of couples, solo travellers and a family, which worked really nicely. During the trek, nights were cold and everyone had their ups and downs at points. That said, there were more comforts available to us than we expected (WiFi, showers, familiar menu items) but the Nepalese food was truly delicious and the best for filling up after a long day of trekking! This was a big trip for us that we have been thinking about for a while, and it surpassed all our expectations. We've made new friends and lifelong memories. Don't hesitate to book this trip and visit this amazing country.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek - a once in a life-time experience . . .
Dec 17, 2024It's a strange feeling leaving everything behind, setting off with only a few belongings, with a group of people you've never met before to spend 16 days with increasingly basic accommodation, and food, at progressively challenging altitudes. But somehow, between the chaos of Kathmandu and the giddy heights of the Thorong La Pass you will fall in love with Nepal and the Himalayas. The scenery of the Annapurna Circuit is truly epic, the Nepalese people are genuine and kind and, in particular, the team of MBA guides and porters are flawlessly attentive, and helpful. Our lead-guide, Krishna, was an incredible host who made the overall trip run smoothly and, together with the three support guides, Deli, Dependra and Prabin, made sure that everyone was well looked-after on and off the trail, prompting and helping everyone to manage their water and the inevitable effects of altitude, advising on food and drink choices and providing understanding, company and support when the going got tough. A further team of 6 porters performed the heroic task of carrying the 12 larger duffle bags, leaving trekkers free to carry only a lighter day bag. With luck you'll have a great group of fellow trekkers adding an unexpected, but incredibly welcome, bonding experience on top of the spectacular vistas and sense of adventure. The days typically involve several hours of trekking of various difficulty at the end of which the charming and cosy teahouses offer a very welcome respite. After a few restorative teas, a rest, a game of cards or two and simple but tasty dinner, Krishna would never fail to deliver an informative, entertaining and exciting briefing of the following days schedule. The building sense of adventure and anticipation is palpable as you progress closer and closer to "big day" - the rounding of the Thorong La Pass at 5,400m - and there is a huge collective sense of achievement and celebration on the subsequent decent. The beautiful, relaxing city of Pokhara is a fitting prize at the end of the trek. Make no mistake - this is not a relaxing holiday - if you want that then go to the beach. If however you are looking for an incredible all-round experience that will deliver some of the most spectacular scenery on earth, introduce you to some incredible people and new friends and challenge yourself in ways you didn't expect then step this way …

Absolutely brilliant!
Dec 15, 2024As our guide Dinesh would say - absolutely brilliant! My very spontaneous decision to go on this trip was one of my best. From the first moment we’ve met our main guide Dinesh I could hear the experience in his words and felt safe and relaxed knowing he would take us day by day, step by step through this trip. Meeting the rest of the crew made the family complete. Supporting guides Bijay, Uttar and Suresh heard and saw every single need before we even knew about it. Always ready, always with a smile, spreading a good mood. Concerns for health, the trek were heard and reassured and always considered the following days by Dinesh as main guide. They topped our experience with knowledge about the culture, landscape and mountains and way of live along the hike. The trip shouldn’t be underestimated but also not feared. The guides are honest, caring and simply have your back. If you listen to them, you’ll have an amazing experience. Last but not least - my fellow trekkers are the absolute greatest. All along fun, positivity and sympathy. Support like a family - there and back again.

A trip with memories of lifetime for me
Dec 15, 2024It for sure was a trip with memories of lifetime for me! The day-to-day hiking views were insanely beautiful. The physical exhaustion is real, in big part due to compounding effect of multiple days of effort. The tea houses had mostly very basic accomodation, but the food selection was pretty sufficient. Our guide, Dinesh, absolutely made the trip for me. He had an amazing way of keeping our spirits high, being serious when needed, and calming me down when I started to panic or overreact. I really cannot emphasize enough how lucky we were to have him leading us, with his experience, composure, and encouragement. He is a fantastic leader. The other guide helpers, Bijay, Uter, and Cyrus, were same incredible. They seemed to see our needs before we even realized them. Whether it was offering a hand on tricky terrain, helping with our gear, or simply sharing a warm smile, they were always there to support us. I loved that we had them so much. I miss them already!

Dream Trip!
Dec 14, 2024Truly the most epic, once in a lifetime trip. Firstly, the trip is incredibly well led and organised. Our main guide Dinesh was world-class, he was very transparent with managing expectations, preparing us for every condition, and most importantly, looking after our safety. Our support team of BJ, Utu, and Suresh, and the porters were also fantastic and great fun. The altitude, winter cold, and some tough slopes were definitely challenging, but Dinesh prepared us well for it. However, the rewarding scenery and culture made it well worth it, it was the most beautiful place on the planet for me. For me the heart of the trip was the group bonding, we were all quite different people but became like family during the trip. So many laughs, fun, and pushing and supporting each other on the trek. I was on the fence for booking this trip, but it was one of the best decisions I've made and urge you to stop hesitating and go for it. My main advice is because you travelling to one of the most extreme conditions on the planet, don't go cheap on the gear (I had to buy some proper winter trek trousers and fleece in Namche), expect to be challenged (altitude does not discriminate no matter how fit you are), and prepare financially, since for example, we had to take a helicopter from Lukla to Kathmandu due to airport closures due to the weather to make it back in time for our home flights.
