Overview

Manaslu Circuit with Tsum Valley lies in the Gorkha district, circling Mount Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain on earth at 8,163m. Manaslu region was closed to outsiders until 1991, and Tsum Valley, a sacred hidden valley or "Beyul," stayed shut until 2008. You will be walking where very few trekkers have walked before, through the deep Budhi Gandaki gorge and into a valley where the old Tibetan Buddhist way of life still survives untouched. The trail starts low along the Budhi Gandaki River, climbing through bamboo forests and stone villages into Tsum Valley, home to Mu Gompa and Rachen Gompa, ancient monasteries where monks and nuns still live a life of prayer. From Tsum, the route rejoins the main Manaslu trail and climbs through Lho, Shyala, and Samagaon, where the towering south face of Manaslu sits right above the village. The journey builds toward Larkya La, a high pass at 5,160m, where Himlung Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II stand in front of you like a reward for every step taken. After the pass, the trail drops into Bhimthang and joins the Annapurna region, ending with a drive back to Pokhara and Kathmandu. This is the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trek, a raw and complete Himalayan adventure, away from the crowd, deep into the mountains.
