Upon your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, Freedom Adventures’ representative will greet you. You will be dropped off at the hotel, and after checking in, you could walk around Thamel, a popular tourist hub in Kathmandu. Observing the market and some souvenir shopping will freshen your mind. Dinner at an excellent restaurant will give you a taste of Nepali cuisine. Your trek guide will brief you about the trip and the next day’s sightseeing trip. Overnight at Kathmandu.
After a lovely breakfast in the morning, we start guided sightseeing tour to some most historical and spiritual attraction in Kathmandu. We will be visiting some landmarks which are considered as World Heritage Sites. This Sightseeing will be fully informative and historical. We start our day from Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples, followed by Bouddanath, the ancient Buddhist Stupa is one of the largest in the world. Following our day to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, is the plaza in front of the royal place of old Bhaktapur. In the afternoon we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the old royal place complex which was built on the 14th century. After we finish sightseeing we follow the local market called Ason, crossing the busy local area we reach our hotel at Thamel. Overnight at Kathmandu.
This is your first day of trekking in Nepal after a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport in the Everest region. Upon arrival at Lukla, we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding along the Dudh Kosi River and spend the night in the village. There are some monasteries in the vicinity that are worth a visit. Overnight in Phakding.
Walking through a beautiful pine forest, the track leads us along the Dudh Koshi River through many suspension bridges, one of which is the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge with wonderful viewpoint of the gleaming Mt. Thamserku (6618 m). Namche Bazaar crisscrosses over the river in route to Jorsale, the trek’s halfway point. We pass through the last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche Bazaar. Later in the day, finish with a challenging uphill climb to Namche Bazaar. Enjoy the first glimpse of Everest. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Today will be our rest day with the profit of some visit to remarkable places. We hike to the view spot to enjoy the great view of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, and so on. We walk around the Khumjung valley. Hillary school and Khunde Hospital are the places we can visit in this valley. We hike back to Namche Bazaar, and stay for the night.
We start our trekking along the ridge and descend down Phunkithanka side by side Dudh Koshi River until cross the bridge, and ascend in the steep trail up to Tengboche. Upon our arrival at Tangboche we will greet largest Monastery of the Khumbu region the Tenboche Monastery. Overnight at Tengboche.
Today we descend to Debuche. After reaching Debuche we cross suspension bridge on the Imja Khola. Climbing for a while to Pangboche along with the company of thousands of mani stones will cheer us up. We continue our uphill trek, and we arrive at traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche. View of Mount Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam from Dingboche will refresh you. Overnight at Dingboche.
Today we rest at beautiful traditional Sherpa village. We have plenty of time to hike for Chukung valley and then Chukung-ri. We enjoy the amazing view of Mount Everest the world’s tallest Mountain. We will be greeted by other mountains too then we hike back to Dingboche.
After a restful night we start our trek which where trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. We pass by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue our climbing until we reach Lobuche. Upon our arrival at Lobuche with the only few huts we enjoy the great view of Lobuche peak. Lobuche is situated in the lap of giant Loubche peak. Over night at Lobuche.
|Day 10||Trek from Lobuche to Gork Shep (5140m/16,864ft) via Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,598ft) - 7hrs|
Today we will have long day of trekking. Passing the Khumbu Glacier and, and up to Everest Base camp is difficult but this is the closest point we can get to Everest without mountaineering equipment. We can see the beautiful view of Khumbu ice fall from the base camp. We walk back to Gorak Shep to stay for night. Overnight at Gorkshep.
We start our walk to Kalapather. The walk will get difficult but once we get there the mountain panorama will take our breath away. The view of highest point in the earth Mount Everest, and other giant peaks likes Nuptse, Pumori, Chagtse, Lhotse, and so many other peaks is amazing experience one should never miss. We make quick walk back to Gorak Shep and we descend gently to Lobuche and then walk up to Dzongla. Overnight at Dzongla.
We walk on the flat stone trails today. After walking for some time we pass through valley. We ascend in the steep path to Chola. We pass in the city trails along Chola glacier. Upon our arrival at Chola pass we descend down on another side. The stony trail leads us to Phedi. We climb down up to Thanga from Phedi. Thanga is the small village with few guest houses and tea shops. We can view the Machhermo peak and some other from Thangna. Overnight at Thangna.
We trek along the glacier route until we reach first Lake of Gokyo. We will have easy walk over a flat path following Dudh Koshi River up to Gokyo, a windy valley which is situated near by the third lake. We will be amazed by the natural beauty of Dudh Pokhari Lake.
We will have fun exploring Gokyo valley with the plenty of time to rest. Gokyo has become one of the good tourism business place. Sherpa people run different lodges to provide best services to trekkers. Gokyo is situated by the side of Nepal’s biggest glacier Ngozumba glacier. Overnight at Gokyo.
Today we climb the Gokyo Ri which is situated at above the village in northern side of lake. Arriving at peak of Gokyo Ri, we can enjoy the view of beautiful Mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. We then roll back to Gokyo and trek top to Machhermo following Dhudh Koshi River with the view of large meadow and grazing yaks. Overnight at Machhermo.
We trek further leaving beautiful Machhermo behind. We walk downhill to Phortse tenga. Passing through the forest of rhododendron, pine and local incense will be beautiful walk. We ascend in the steep path to Mongol. After reaching Mongol we descend gently to Khumjung. Crossing the Khumjung we will head for Namche on a flat trail. Overnight at Namche.
After having a good night at Namche we descend to Lukla. On the way to we will cover the forest of rhododendron and pine. After walking a while we reach a Sherpa village to say good bye and thank you to the local team staff. On undulating terrain, we finely arrive at Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
Today will be our last day at Khumbu region as we fly back to Kathmandu after our mountain journey. Back in Kathmandu, you can spend some leisure time reflecting on the trek and doing last-minute shopping in Thamel. We meet up for dinner in the evening and celebrate successful completion of our trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.
